Anniversary

Tomorrow is our 2nd year anniversary. It's so crazy we have only been married 2 years because it seems like forever. Not in a bad way, we both just feel like we have always been together. My friend posted their story of how they met on her anniversary and I'm stealing her idea (thanks Tanya).
My best friend Darcy desperately needed a roommate at NAU during the summer, and I desperately wanted to get out of Mesa for a little while so off to Flagstaff I went to live with this sexy lady! (sorry Darcy this is the worst picture EVER, it's the only one I had on my computer)
I remember the first time I saw Pete. We were at church and he was sitting in front of me with his friend, they were laughing and messing around. I probably should have been turned off by the fact he wasn't listening, but instead I though he looked like a cute, fun guy.

We both ended up at a party the next week and really hit it off. His guy friends were all planning a group date and he was planning on asking me, but his friend beat him to the punch.
But, don't worry that didn't stop him from holding my hand while we both had other dates. I just love the beginning stages of a relationship, the excitement and all that.
Anyways, it wasn't much longer than that I ended up getting tickets to a Dodgers game and asked him to go with me. We kissed that night and dated the rest of the summer. I honestly thought the summer would end and so would we, but Pete had something else in mind. We did the long distance thing for a little while and I went up to visit him over conference weekend and I knew we had to decide if this was going to get serious or if we needed to break it off.
I will never forget the feeling I got, the confirmation that this was my eternal companion. I remember telling him we are going to be together forever, and he just looked at me and said, I know! It's been great ever since! Things have been a whirlwind. In the 2 years we have been married we have gone to Disney world, had a baby, trip to Europe, college graduation, job promotion, bought a house and another college graduation in 2 months YAHOO! Can't wait to see where to next years bring us :)
I don't think we could have asked for a better wedding day, it was perfect. I chose to have our reception at the church so I could hire a really good photographer. When I walked into the cultural hall my jaw dropped! I had never in my life seen it look so beautiful.
It's so fun looking back at that special day and remembering the covenants we made. I love my life!

Happy New Year!

We thought we’d bring some new energy to 2021 by completely tearing our house apart and getting our carpets cleaned. The cleaners were scheduled for December 30th, so we pulled everything out of bedrooms and gave the walls and baseboards a good scrub. In order to allow the carpets time to dry we didn’t want to walk on them so we used Elliott’s points and got a hotel up in the Woodlands. We stayed at the Marriott along the waterway and it was beautiful. There ended up being a storm that night which was unfortunate because we weren’t able to walk down the waterway and enjoy the whole scene up there. We ordered Shake Shack from Uber Eats and watched Hook all snuggled up in our beds. It was a perfect evening.  Once we returned home we got to work putting bedrooms back together then later that night celebrated the new year! It’s become tradition for us to do taste tests with the kids blindfolded. We did different flavored oreo’s and ice drinks. We ordered Buffalo Wild Wings and wa...

Good Morning

Our kids don't sleep in. If they make it past 6:30 it's an extremely rare occasion. The problem with this is that Pete and I are not exactly morning folk. We make goals that say we will be in bed before 10pm, but after a week or so we are back to staying up way to late. Having Netflix is not helping either. We love watching documentaries and could watch them all night long. Every morning looks a little something like this. Our kids full of energy and ready to conquer the day, while Pete and I are wanting to kill ourselves.

December

There are a lot of words that could be used to describe 2020. Unpredictable, scary, death, political insanity, isolation, divisive, racial inequality, quarantine, masks etc. etc. It was really rough for us around June-October when we had no idea whether or not Elliott would have a job. Thankfully we were one of the lucky ones that didn't get furloughed. Financially speaking our biggest hit was that overtime was cut. We had big plans of paying off a lot of debt from law school and going on our first family trip to Disneyworld. Without that overtime we make about $2,000 less a month and it's quite a hit, but we are making it work. We canceled our Disneyworld trip and are living paycheck to paycheck but had Elliott been furloughed for an undermined amount of time I don't know what we would have done. I know there are many families in that situation and I wish we were in a position to offer some assistance instead of treading water. I feel very blessed and fortunate for where w...
