The Birthday Girl

Here's our little peanut already 4 years old! While it's weird that she is four, it sometimes seems like she should be older. I don't know if that's because she is the oldest, she acts like she is 14, or if it's just because it's hard to remember life before being a mom. We had a lot of fun making her day fun and special.

This was her birthday table that we have set up all month.

We had her presents all set out waiting for her for when she woke up. The little stinker found her bike before her birthday so she already knew what she was getting. She was still very thrilled to actually be able to ride it.

I found a fun idea on pinterest to fill their room with ballons. After the kids were asleep we stayed up blowing up balloons for her room.

It was hard to get a good picture of it, but it turned out pretty cute.

She was thrilled in the morning. A while back my friend Addie and I made birthday pillowcases for our families. It was a fun easy tradition that we are starting to use. Audrey was very excited to switch pillowcases.

Because Pete is awesome he took the day off of work. This aloud Audrey and I to go get our nails done. This is not something that we normally do but we did it last year and she was in heaven.

A couple ladies commented on how well behaved she was. I told them that they have no idea how much she is soaking this up.

We then went and got her birthday outfit at Old Navy. I love getting my kids clothes there because their sales are amazing and their clothes are cute.

She picked to eat lunch at Pete Piper. Here she is with her loot. She had a pretty wonderful day.

The Party
She wanted to have an Ariel party, so that's what we tried to do. We had a little BBQ at my parents house. Grandma Carolyn suprised her and came all the way from Flagstaff, which was so nice! Of course I didn't take any pictures of anybody who came. Her cousin Elizabeth and their family came from Flagstaff too and lots of cousins. It seemed like there were a lot of little kids running around.

My lover cookin' up the hot dogs. They were so yummy, hot dogs just hit the spot sometimes and this night they hit the spot for me.

I couldn't believe how many present she got, the spoiled little thing.

She was loving every minute of it. She got tons of Ariel things and adores each thing she got. I never got around to thank you cards, which I know is awful.

She was VERY ancy to get home and open up all her new toys. Once we got home the first thing she got into was a jewlery box from her Uncle Greg and covered herself with jewels. She had a very very very happy birthday, and we are so blessed to have her in our family.

Happy New Year!

We thought we’d bring some new energy to 2021 by completely tearing our house apart and getting our carpets cleaned. The cleaners were scheduled for December 30th, so we pulled everything out of bedrooms and gave the walls and baseboards a good scrub. In order to allow the carpets time to dry we didn’t want to walk on them so we used Elliott’s points and got a hotel up in the Woodlands. We stayed at the Marriott along the waterway and it was beautiful. There ended up being a storm that night which was unfortunate because we weren’t able to walk down the waterway and enjoy the whole scene up there. We ordered Shake Shack from Uber Eats and watched Hook all snuggled up in our beds. It was a perfect evening.  Once we returned home we got to work putting bedrooms back together then later that night celebrated the new year! It’s become tradition for us to do taste tests with the kids blindfolded. We did different flavored oreo’s and ice drinks. We ordered Buffalo Wild Wings and wa...

Good Morning

Our kids don't sleep in. If they make it past 6:30 it's an extremely rare occasion. The problem with this is that Pete and I are not exactly morning folk. We make goals that say we will be in bed before 10pm, but after a week or so we are back to staying up way to late. Having Netflix is not helping either. We love watching documentaries and could watch them all night long. Every morning looks a little something like this. Our kids full of energy and ready to conquer the day, while Pete and I are wanting to kill ourselves.

December

There are a lot of words that could be used to describe 2020. Unpredictable, scary, death, political insanity, isolation, divisive, racial inequality, quarantine, masks etc. etc. It was really rough for us around June-October when we had no idea whether or not Elliott would have a job. Thankfully we were one of the lucky ones that didn't get furloughed. Financially speaking our biggest hit was that overtime was cut. We had big plans of paying off a lot of debt from law school and going on our first family trip to Disneyworld. Without that overtime we make about $2,000 less a month and it's quite a hit, but we are making it work. We canceled our Disneyworld trip and are living paycheck to paycheck but had Elliott been furloughed for an undermined amount of time I don't know what we would have done. I know there are many families in that situation and I wish we were in a position to offer some assistance instead of treading water. I feel very blessed and fortunate for where w...
