Disneyland

This post was SO hard because I have a million pictures, so I just picked some small highlights to remember.

4:47 AM is the time we were backing out of our garage and on our way. We thought it would be a good idea to enjoy a full day at Disneyland without having to spend the money for an extra night at the hotel. We went during a non busy time so the park didn't open till 10, which gave us plenty of time to get there.

Pete found some DVD players for a great deal on Black Friday and boy were those a life saver! The drive there and back was quite delightful.

I have to say that we decided to splurge this trip and did things we don't normally do and things we probably won't do for a very long time. One of those splurges was staying at the Disneyland Hotel. It was wonderful. There were a lot of fun little perks to staying on property right next to the monorail BUT it's just hard to justify it when we know what we can get elsewhere. It was a really good experience though.

We rode Alice and Wonderland several times, Audrey is a lover of all things Alice and Wonderland. She got a kick out of the Rabbit house and wanted to sit and wait for him

Bibbity Bobbity Boutique is Audrey's absolute favorite. She just soaks it up, and it is darling to watch.

Here she is all dolled up.

Ariel's Grotto, too bad Ariel wasn't ready for the picture. This was another splurge, a highlight for all of us but Brandon. The reservations happened to hit RIGHT during his nap time and he was a cranky little boy, darn it. The food here is so yummy, probably the best I've had anywhere in Disneyland or CA Adventure.

We decided to do 2 strollers instead of the double and it worked pretty good for us. It allowed us the flexibility to split up for naps, potty breaks and a lot of other instances.

Isn't this Rupunzel beautiful? Audrey was all about getting character signatures and had a lot of fun filling up her autograph book.

We utilized the rider swap quite a bit. This is outside Star Tours playing around waiting for Pete and Audrey to get out.

Brandon and I went back for a nap every afternoon.

LOVE being there are Christmas time!

Goofy's Kitchen, we happened to hit this when hardly anyone was there so we had tons of time with the characters and the kids loved it.

There are certain things we must have every time we go and a dole whip is one of those.

We told Audrey she would get a prize if she went on all the big rides at least once. She did it! This was us getting on Thunder Mountain and she was NOT a fan. Her favorite "big" ride was Star Tours and we rode it many times.

Meeting up with her cousin Elizabeth. It was fun that we were there together.

My grandma's 80th birthday happened to fall on one of the days we were there and my mom and her sisters all took her there. It was fun that we got to meet up for a little bit.

This trip was so much fun!!

Happy New Year!

We thought we’d bring some new energy to 2021 by completely tearing our house apart and getting our carpets cleaned. The cleaners were scheduled for December 30th, so we pulled everything out of bedrooms and gave the walls and baseboards a good scrub. In order to allow the carpets time to dry we didn’t want to walk on them so we used Elliott’s points and got a hotel up in the Woodlands. We stayed at the Marriott along the waterway and it was beautiful. There ended up being a storm that night which was unfortunate because we weren’t able to walk down the waterway and enjoy the whole scene up there. We ordered Shake Shack from Uber Eats and watched Hook all snuggled up in our beds. It was a perfect evening.  Once we returned home we got to work putting bedrooms back together then later that night celebrated the new year! It’s become tradition for us to do taste tests with the kids blindfolded. We did different flavored oreo’s and ice drinks. We ordered Buffalo Wild Wings and wa...

Good Morning

Our kids don't sleep in. If they make it past 6:30 it's an extremely rare occasion. The problem with this is that Pete and I are not exactly morning folk. We make goals that say we will be in bed before 10pm, but after a week or so we are back to staying up way to late. Having Netflix is not helping either. We love watching documentaries and could watch them all night long. Every morning looks a little something like this. Our kids full of energy and ready to conquer the day, while Pete and I are wanting to kill ourselves.

December

There are a lot of words that could be used to describe 2020. Unpredictable, scary, death, political insanity, isolation, divisive, racial inequality, quarantine, masks etc. etc. It was really rough for us around June-October when we had no idea whether or not Elliott would have a job. Thankfully we were one of the lucky ones that didn't get furloughed. Financially speaking our biggest hit was that overtime was cut. We had big plans of paying off a lot of debt from law school and going on our first family trip to Disneyworld. Without that overtime we make about $2,000 less a month and it's quite a hit, but we are making it work. We canceled our Disneyworld trip and are living paycheck to paycheck but had Elliott been furloughed for an undermined amount of time I don't know what we would have done. I know there are many families in that situation and I wish we were in a position to offer some assistance instead of treading water. I feel very blessed and fortunate for where w...
