Happy Birthday Darcy!

I think it's pretty rare to find a friendship as awesome as ours. We grew up in the same ward but for some reason didn't start hanging out till high school, which is such a bummer. Since she decided to move to Africa (or Utah) I never get to see her. Today I've been reflecting on some of my favorite memories with this awesome chicka.
1.) Allowing me to write your name as a reference on a job application and under relation write BFF- I wonder why I didn't get the job...
2.) "You're a breaf of fresh air"

3.)Making Dala rent a Hillary Duff movie we wanted to see because we were too embarrassed to check it out
4.) "Sorry I had onions for dinner" Oh sister Merkley
5.) Mo Fro
6.)Iceberg!! Oh that job rocked. French fries, Tony, DRAMA, funnest people ever working there, late nights, dried ice cream on our arms etc.
7.) Seattle. Staying in a freaking haunted hotel, seriously THE SCARIEST NIGHT OF ME LIFE!
8.) San Francisco twice. Ghirardellis's... did we do anything else there? :)
9.) Random dance moves in public places. This still puts a smile on my face.
10.) Girlfriends/ Kids club. Earning money for awesome vacations. Why didn't we ever make it to New York? Someday.
11.) Las Vegas!!! Eating the world at the buffets, facials, massages, and make over
12.) Jimmy Eat World (I think) the one song where we punch the air...(please tell me you know what I'm talking about because I can't even explain it)
13.) Disneyland- seriously one of the best trips there... Remember the bed!
14.) Your love of all things 80's
15.) Loosing my keys at the move theater and having to call your mom to come pick us up. Then having to eat the most ginormous cinnamon roll.
16.) The Phantom of the Opera experience...
17.) BOUNCH- oh Dustin
18.) Banessa
19.) Almost killing ourselves on a ski slope, and NOBODY helping us
20.) Living in Flagstaff. We can live with each other and still be best friends, most of the time :)
21.) Being there for me the WORST Christmas of my life and through that whole nightmare
22.) We find the same things funny and interesting and are very sarcastic and have the best conversations
23.) We both love to read. Remember when you told me Dumbledore dies like 3 chapters before I got there, I could have killed you!

24.) Route 44 diet strawberry limeade. That sounds SO good right now!
25.) Going to the movies, eating Cold Stone being on and off diets ALL THE TIME, the homestead, 13 going on 30, the Diamonbacks, prank phone calls... I could go on forever!
Thanks for being the raddest friend EVER! Happy birthday Darcia!

Happy New Year!

We thought we’d bring some new energy to 2021 by completely tearing our house apart and getting our carpets cleaned. The cleaners were scheduled for December 30th, so we pulled everything out of bedrooms and gave the walls and baseboards a good scrub. In order to allow the carpets time to dry we didn’t want to walk on them so we used Elliott’s points and got a hotel up in the Woodlands. We stayed at the Marriott along the waterway and it was beautiful. There ended up being a storm that night which was unfortunate because we weren’t able to walk down the waterway and enjoy the whole scene up there. We ordered Shake Shack from Uber Eats and watched Hook all snuggled up in our beds. It was a perfect evening.  Once we returned home we got to work putting bedrooms back together then later that night celebrated the new year! It’s become tradition for us to do taste tests with the kids blindfolded. We did different flavored oreo’s and ice drinks. We ordered Buffalo Wild Wings and wa...

Good Morning

Our kids don't sleep in. If they make it past 6:30 it's an extremely rare occasion. The problem with this is that Pete and I are not exactly morning folk. We make goals that say we will be in bed before 10pm, but after a week or so we are back to staying up way to late. Having Netflix is not helping either. We love watching documentaries and could watch them all night long. Every morning looks a little something like this. Our kids full of energy and ready to conquer the day, while Pete and I are wanting to kill ourselves.

December

There are a lot of words that could be used to describe 2020. Unpredictable, scary, death, political insanity, isolation, divisive, racial inequality, quarantine, masks etc. etc. It was really rough for us around June-October when we had no idea whether or not Elliott would have a job. Thankfully we were one of the lucky ones that didn't get furloughed. Financially speaking our biggest hit was that overtime was cut. We had big plans of paying off a lot of debt from law school and going on our first family trip to Disneyworld. Without that overtime we make about $2,000 less a month and it's quite a hit, but we are making it work. We canceled our Disneyworld trip and are living paycheck to paycheck but had Elliott been furloughed for an undermined amount of time I don't know what we would have done. I know there are many families in that situation and I wish we were in a position to offer some assistance instead of treading water. I feel very blessed and fortunate for where w...
