We picked names out of a hat to see what order school shopping would be done this year. It ended up going in birth order! I wish I did more one on one dates with the kids, I enjoy that bonding time and should try and make it happen more. We always make it happen at least once a year for school shopping and we look forward to it. They are all so very different and that definitely played out with how each of our days went.
Audrey and I spent about 4 hours shopping. Shopped till we dropped. She chose the Cheesecake Factory because she knows whats up! At dinner we had a discussion about going into middle school and not to change who she is to make anyone like her. Girls can be mean, don't talk behind girls backs and always find someone who looks like they need a friend. She said her biggest fear about school is not being able to figure out her locker combination. We got her a combination lock to practice so she should be fine. She is most looking forward to being able to switch classes every hour.
Brandon spent MAYBE 45 min shopping. He wants to go to one store, try on what he likes in his size and get outta there! He said he was too hungry to leave the mall so he wanted to eat in the food court. Oh Brandon! He could literally eat anywhere and he chooses the food court! His biggest fear this year is getting a mean teacher, and he is most looking forward to seeing if his friends are in his class from last year.
Melanie was super excited for her turn. I told her to go brush her hair, get dressed and tell me when she was ready. She came back with 2 ponytails at different heights with a lot off hair left out in the back WITH BOWS and a full face of make up included red lipstick! She was devastated when I told her that wasn't going to work. So we wiped the makeup off and settled with her hair down and we were off! She's a lot of fun to go shopping with and wants to try everything on. Her heart was set on Golden Corral for dinner. I think that will be the last time we eat there it makes me feel so gross and sick afterwards, but we had a good time. She said her biggest fear is math being to hard and she's most looking forward to making new friends.
