Husband Tag

I'm not really sure what he's doing in this picture, but this was our first date except we weren't each others date. Although that didn't keep him from slyly holding my hand.

What is your husband' s name? Harold Elliott, he has never in his life gone by Harold because let's be honest it sounds like an 80 year old. When he was little his favorite movie was Pete's Dragon so his family started calling him Pete and it stuck.  Recently he decided he wanted to start going by Elliott but his family and friends will always know him as Pete.

How long have you been married? 1 year and 8 months

How long did you date? About 10 months

How old is he? 25

Who eats sweets? Well both of us used too, but now just me. I LOVE sweets, it's just so hard to diet

Who said I love you first? I did... Although it went along the lines of this, I really do love you I just don't know if I love you in THAT way... I was confused.

Who is taller? definitely Pete. I couldn't handle being taller than my husband. Not that I have anything against couples where the woman is taller I personally would feel self conscious.

Who does the laundry? When we were both going to school we would both pitch in, but now that I'm home with Audrey I do it.

Who pays the bills? Pete makes the moola I put the checks in the mail

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? We change it up every now and then. Most of the night I'm in Audrey's room anyways but that's going to change soon.

Who mows the lawn? We have rock landscape out front and our backyard is nothing but dirt. If we did have grass that would be Pete's job for sure, I'm not a big fan of yard work.

Who cooks dinner? I do, I really love to cook.

Who drives? Pete does because I'm normally in the back with little Ms. Audrey. AND because I drive him nutzo when I drive. I'm very cautious and super NON aggressive and it makes him crazy :)

Who is the first to admit they are wrong? Well we are both pretty stubborn, but are really good about talking things out

Who kissed who first? Pete kissed me first. He's a major Dodger's fan and I got tickets for one of the games and I guess he was thankful... but that's not the only reason he kissed me :)

Who asked who out first? He asked me out. We went to Red Lobster and I got sick the next day, but he came over and took care of me.

I now tag Helen, Amy, Rebecca, Tanya, Suzi and Addie

I am glad you participated in the tag! :) That was fun to read about you guys since I've never met your hubby either! But I am glad I know the story about why you call him Pete- I was confused since your blog says Amelia and Elliot, but you reference someone named Pete. It all makes sense now! :)

Happy New Year!

We thought we’d bring some new energy to 2021 by completely tearing our house apart and getting our carpets cleaned. The cleaners were scheduled for December 30th, so we pulled everything out of bedrooms and gave the walls and baseboards a good scrub. In order to allow the carpets time to dry we didn’t want to walk on them so we used Elliott’s points and got a hotel up in the Woodlands. We stayed at the Marriott along the waterway and it was beautiful. There ended up being a storm that night which was unfortunate because we weren’t able to walk down the waterway and enjoy the whole scene up there. We ordered Shake Shack from Uber Eats and watched Hook all snuggled up in our beds. It was a perfect evening.  Once we returned home we got to work putting bedrooms back together then later that night celebrated the new year! It’s become tradition for us to do taste tests with the kids blindfolded. We did different flavored oreo’s and ice drinks. We ordered Buffalo Wild Wings and wa...

Good Morning

Our kids don't sleep in. If they make it past 6:30 it's an extremely rare occasion. The problem with this is that Pete and I are not exactly morning folk. We make goals that say we will be in bed before 10pm, but after a week or so we are back to staying up way to late. Having Netflix is not helping either. We love watching documentaries and could watch them all night long. Every morning looks a little something like this. Our kids full of energy and ready to conquer the day, while Pete and I are wanting to kill ourselves.

December

There are a lot of words that could be used to describe 2020. Unpredictable, scary, death, political insanity, isolation, divisive, racial inequality, quarantine, masks etc. etc. It was really rough for us around June-October when we had no idea whether or not Elliott would have a job. Thankfully we were one of the lucky ones that didn't get furloughed. Financially speaking our biggest hit was that overtime was cut. We had big plans of paying off a lot of debt from law school and going on our first family trip to Disneyworld. Without that overtime we make about $2,000 less a month and it's quite a hit, but we are making it work. We canceled our Disneyworld trip and are living paycheck to paycheck but had Elliott been furloughed for an undermined amount of time I don't know what we would have done. I know there are many families in that situation and I wish we were in a position to offer some assistance instead of treading water. I feel very blessed and fortunate for where w...
